Government Center Project faces $118,093.82 site-wall change order; commissioners review other facilities issues

During a Building and Grounds weekly update, WDC Group representatives briefed the Board of Allen County Commissioners on changes and pending items for the Government Center Project and other county facilities.

Jason Patchet and Chris Widener of WDC Group reviewed an updated project cost summary and discussed an East/North site wall elevation change order totaling $118,093.82. The presenters also reviewed pending finish items including fencing, flooring changes, toilet partitions and revisions to Room 118. Commissioners heard the update and discussed budget implications.

Patchet reported completion of a concrete and drainage project at the Soil and Water Conservation District. During a Cook Tower walkthrough update, the board discussed a 3–4-year-old HVAC unit that an owner, Tony Collins, said supports the building's first and second floors; commissioners asked staff and counsel to clarify responsibility for the unit.

Separately, the board was told that an air-conditioning unit in the Sheriff's Office IT server room failed; staff presented a replacement quote of $9,208. Commissioners agreed to proceed with replacement steps; staff member Susan Wildermuth will obtain a purchase order and place a contract on a future agenda for formal approval.

Commissioner Cory Noonan said he will prepare an application for potential state capital funding for an agricultural building at the Fairgrounds to rehouse OSU Extension and possibly the Fair Board and will bring the proposal back to the board for approval.
