Allen County staff report lawsuit notification, BWC trial and dispatch contract work

County staff told commissioners Feb. 24 that the county had received notification it is named in a lawsuit regarding a tax issue and that the matter has been submitted to CORSA for counsel assignment.
Sofia Clifton provided an update on a Bureau of Workers’ Compensation claim that is scheduled for trial next month, noting the individual has reached Maximum Medical Improvement but that the trial will proceed. Clifton said county witnesses expected to testify include Health Department Director Brandon Fisher and Tyler Black of Metro Parks.
Staff also reported they are working to obtain all sheriff dispatch contracts for approval by resolution and handling administrative matters related to upcoming hearings. Clerk Brittany N. Woods said two people subpoenaed for an annexation hearing said they would be in Florida; Assistant Prosecutor John Willamowski Jr. said if they provide their positions in writing staff can read those statements into the record and the subpoenas could be excused.
The board discussed renewal language for janitorial services at Children Services and memoranda of understanding with the Regional Planning Commission for planning program services and the metropolitan planning organization; the commissioners asked staff to hold payment of a Regional Planning Commission invoice for $35,772.10 until the agreements are signed.
