The Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County approved several routine items during its June meetings. On June 4, commissioners unanimously approved the county’s employee insurance renewal, accepted the Georgia Forestry agreement, and reappointed Commissioner Timothy Biddle (term through June 30, 2028) and Commissioner Gerald Douglas (term through June 30, 2026) to the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Transportation Authority by resolution.
During the June 4 regular meeting the commission also approved moving forward with the GA HWY 520 roundabout grant, with county staff noting the project has a 40/60 match requirement and that the county’s maximum exposure for utility relocation work would not exceed $52,000 if costs come in under projections. County Manager Thomas Weaver said crews are targeting an October construction timeframe.
At the June 24 work session, staff reported the county had begun receiving ambulance billing revenue and that a fiber network build by Charter, Spectrum and Bingham Construction is projected to reach roughly 90% of the county and be in service by mid‑December; the project route will include Ft. Moore, Hwy 26, Industrial Park Road and Broad Street. Public Works reported the cemetery work is ready for final hydroseeding.
Commissioners reviewed three solid‑waste service bids: GFL ($20/month + $5 per tire), Jones Sanitation ($23.50/month) and Zero Waste ($25.52/month). The record shows the award will be made at a subsequent regular meeting; staff flagged customer eligibility for curbside service and the need to clarify recipient lists before implementation.
Pam Burgamy requested permission to use a county parcel adjacent to the library for an ADA‑compliant community garden and story‑time area; commissioners said the request will be added to a future agenda if it requires a formal vote. A variety of departmental updates (water CCR, recreation events, rabies clinic) were noted in the work session minutes.
