Athens County commissioners remove employee and appoint interim Job and Family Services director

The board entered an executive session at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the removal of a public employee and returned at 10:04 with a motion to remove Jean Demosky “because of the indictments for the felony charges,” the motion record states. The roll call showed Lenny Eliason and Chris Chmiel voting yea and Charlie Adkins abstaining.
Later the board met again in executive session to discuss employment matters and, upon returning to open session at 10:23 a.m., approved a motion to appoint Keith Weins as Interim Director of Job and Family Services. The vote recorded Eliason yea, Chmiel yea and Adkins abstain.
The meeting record shows no further details about the underlying indictments or the removed employee’s position beyond the formal action taken by the board. The board also approved an internal hire in Job and Family Services: Yvonne Bartlett was hired as Social Service Aid 2 with a starting pay rate of $23.30; that motion carried with Eliason and Chmiel voting yea and Adkins abstaining.
