The City Council voted to approve a rezoning and annexation on Jan. 14 that clears the way for The Palms at Paces Ferry LLC to develop 20 attached townhomes on property along Bells Ferry Road. The council also approved a code amendment to set the parcels’ future land‑use designation to medium‑density residential.
Applicant representative Parks Huff told the council the project converts four parcels (three already in the city, one to be annexed) into a 20‑unit development with enhanced infill standards, a 20‑foot minimum driveway length for each unit and a roughly 10,000‑square‑foot recreation area including passive trail connections and an outdoor pavilion. Huff said adjacent property owners had voiced support, and staff noted the county did not object to the proposal.
Council members added a stipulation requiring staggered unit frontages and architectural variation to avoid a monolithic façade and approved the rezoning, then passed motions approving annexation and the future‑land‑use amendment; all votes carried unanimously.
