The Marietta City Council approved a rezoning request on Jan. 14 that will let Traighton Homes replat roughly 3.28 acres on Jordan, Burnap, Croft and Rose Lane into 19 detached single‑family homes.
Kevin Moore, representing Traighton (speaker 30), told the council the project reduces an inefficient pattern of 21 small existing parcels and obligates the developer to widen Jordan Street from an 18‑foot pavement to about 22 feet and install an improved crosswalk to connect to a nearby trail. Moore said the development will meet the city's infill overlay standards for architecture, trees and sidewalks and that the planning commission had unanimously recommended approval.
Council members discussed utilities, sidewalks and timing of street improvements; Moore said the street widening would be completed on the developer's side prior to home construction and that price points are expected to start in the $700,000 range. After limited public comment and clarifying questions from council, Ward 4’s councilor moved to approve the rezoning with the applicant's stipulation letter; the motion passed on a council voice vote.
The council's approval includes stipulations for public‑works coordination on the crosswalk design, sidewalks and a required minimum driveway length of 20 feet for each lot.
