The Ivins City Council unanimously approved a proclamation designating the 2025–26 school year as an alcohol‑free school year for youth after a presentation from local youth leaders.
Anna Huntington, a senior at Crimson Cliffs High School, read the proclamation on behalf of the Washington County Prevention Coalition and youth coalition partners, asking the city to reaffirm support for a countywide public information campaign and to encourage community engagement on underage drinking prevention. Huntington highlighted the role of existing proximity laws (200‑foot straight‑line distance limits between alcohol retailers and schools/parks) and urged continued community support to maintain those restrictions.
Council members praised the youth presenters and moved and seconded approval; the proclamation passed unanimously.
