Bicycle advisory committee reports on Hunter Mill tour pit stop, May ride and Bicycle Friendly reapplication

The committee reported that the Hunter Mill tour on May 3 will include a pit stop in Vienna but the exact Vienna location has not been decided and the committee will ask to coordinate with the mayor’s office to secure a site. Committee members said registration is open for related events and that volunteers will staff a town-supported event on May 15; the spring community ride is scheduled for May 17 and will begin and end at the community center.
The committee said it is working with the Rotary to detour the Washington & Old Dominion Trail during events and is continuing work on the Bicycle Friendly Community reapplication. Committee members invited commissioners and residents to register for events and noted that hoodies and T-shirts will be available for volunteers.
No formal actions were taken; the committee will continue coordination and report back as plans firm up.
