"Over the last 15 years... the closest estimate I could really get to was $600,000," the superintendent said when summarizing cumulative program costs.
Some council members favored suspending the program for a year to develop a better plan; others emphasized the program’s role in assisting residents who cannot easily haul waste. The council agreed to schedule a short work session before the next council meeting to develop options and timelines and to coordinate with partners and the newsletter schedule.
Public works staff will draft a staff report with cost breakdowns and proposed models for the work session; the council asked staff to circulate possible meeting times so members can attend.
