Andrea, the city administrator, asked the council for authorization to apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $180,000 to help low- and moderate-income homeowners replace or repair roofs. "So I would need permission to apply for that community development block grant," Andrea told the council. A council member moved and the motion passed by roll call.
Andrea said the grant would also cover administrative fees so the city could hire or contract an administrator to assist with application and drawdown requests, with city staff support. She noted the city currently has roughly $150,000 in the applicable fund and that a 10% match — $18,000 — could be provided if council chose to do so.
The council approved seeking the grant; staff will prepare the application and proceed with the required public notices and any required community meetings.
