Allen County opened sealed bids March 26 for two county construction projects: the Columbus Grove–Bluffton Road bridge replacement and the Child Support Enforcement Agency renovation.
At the bid opening for the Columbus Grove–Bluffton Road bridge, R.G. Zachrich Construction, Inc. submitted the low bid at $989,364.14; R & I Construction, Inc. submitted a bid of $1,142,952.15. The board recorded the bids for later review by the County Engineer.
For the Child Support Enforcement Agency renovation, the low base bid was submitted by Muhlenkamp Building Corporation at $1,934,089.00; Muhlenkamp also listed an alternate for epoxy flooring at $22,560.00. Other bidders included Westerheide Construction Co. ($2,199,000.00; alternate $78,900.00), ACI Construction Co., Inc. ($2,469,000.00; alternate $22,400.00) and Rupp/Rosebrock Inc. ($2,850,000.00; alternate -$6,000.00). The commissioners accepted the bids and will refer them to staff for evaluation and recommendation prior to any award.
No contracts were awarded at the opening. The board recessed following the openings for additional agenda items and budget review.
