Botetourt school board upholds personnel recommendations, approves student transfer and religious exemption

Chair Anna Weddell announced the board reconvened at 6:30 p.m. and, by affirmative vote, certified that only matters identified in the motion to go into closed session were discussed. The closed session had been called to consider personnel actions, student matters (including an in-county transfer, enrollment and a request for religious exemption) and consultation with legal counsel.
The board voted to uphold administration recommendations on personnel matters; the motion was made by Jenny P. Wilson and seconded by Matt East. The board approved an in-county student transfer (motion by Tim Davidick, second by Dana McCaleb) with one recorded abstention by Chair Anna Weddell. The board also upheld an administrative recommendation on the enrollment of a student and approved a request for religious exemption from compulsory attendance (motion by Matt East, second by Jenny P. Wilson).
On the consent agenda the board approved routine items including acceptance of bills, authorization for the superintendent to fill vacancies between Oct. 9 and Nov. 13, 2025, approval of the Sept. 11, 2025 minutes, student travel requests, appointment of the 2025–26 gifted advisory committee, and approval of a vendor payment for FY26. Motions on the consent agenda were made by Tim Davidick and seconded by Dana McCaleb.
The board adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
