Rosemount honors three residents and a child with life‑saving awards after April house fire

Mayor Jeffrey D. Wiesensel and Fire Chief Springer presented life‑saving awards May 5 to three local residents whose actions helped an occupant escape a house fire on April 12.

Chief Springer described how Kyle Morris, Carter McCauley and Danielle Kilpak Lawrence went to a burning home, located and alerted a man sleeping in the basement, and — in the case of Morris and Kilpak Lawrence — reentered the smoke‑filled house to rescue three dogs.

“Because of their quick thinking, their willingness to act, and their courage in a very dangerous situation, what could have been a very tragic incident ended up having a very positive outcome,” Chief Springer said, praising the rescuers and noting that Carter McCauley had performed life‑saving CPR earlier that same day on a store employee.

Mayor Wiesensel also recognized 5‑year‑old Charlotte McCauley as an honorary junior firefighter for running inside her yard, alerting her father and helping trigger a faster 911 response.
