Auglaize County holds 2026 budget meetings with fairgrounds, treasurer, sheriff and airport manager

The minutes record a scheduled budget discussion with the Treasurer at 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 20 and a 2:00 p.m. Nov. 20 meeting with Sheriff Michael Vorhees to discuss the sheriff’s 2026 budget. The board also received the monthly airport update from Airport Manager Ted Bergstrom at Neil Armstrong Airport on Nov. 20.
Administrator Erica L. Preston identified department-level needs and several procurement items during the meetings, including a floor scrubber request, rooftop repair quotes for Auglaize Industries, and a quote for tree work that the board agreed to accept. Preston also noted ongoing work under the PaveConnect program at Job & Family Services and discussed pre-application submissions for demolition grants totaling approximately $285,000.
Other program- and community-facing meetings on Nov. 20 included a joint session with OSU Extension’s Jacob Winters and Sarah Goins (SNAP) about a community garden project, and a meeting with Alexa Schwaderer and City of Wapakoneta representatives regarding recycling programs. The board’s budget review schedule also referenced an upcoming Engineer Department meeting on Dec. 9, 2025 to discuss bridge load postings.
The meetings produced direction to staff rather than final budget votes: the board scheduled follow-up meetings with department heads and directed the County Administrator to set a meeting with the JFS director after an executive-session discussion on compensation. Final budget approvals and any formal appropriations were not recorded in these minutes; several related resolution items and appropriation amendments were listed for future consideration.
