Botetourt County School Board upholds personnel recommendations, approves multi-item consent agenda

The Botetourt County School Board on Nov. 13, 2025, voted to uphold several personnel recommendations and approved a multi-item consent agenda after returning from a closed session that addressed personnel and student-transfer appeals.

Board members recorded attendance at the start of the meeting; Dr. Womack and Mr. Tim Davidick were noted as unable to attend. Chair Anna L. Weddle convened the meeting at 5:29 p.m. The board voted to enter a closed meeting to discuss appointments, transfers, resignations and other personnel matters and to consider student transfer appeals and consultation with legal counsel under the Code of Virginia. The board reconvened the open meeting at 6:29 p.m. and certified that only the matters identified in the motion were discussed in closed session.

Following certification, the board moved to uphold administration's personnel recommendations. The motion was made by Dana McCaleb and seconded by Jenny P. Wilson; the minutes record the motion as carrying with Anna Weddle, Dana McCaleb, Matt East and Jenny P. Wilson voting in favor (4–0). The record lists the same four members voting on a motion to uphold administration's recommendation on one student transfer appeal (motion by Jenny P. Wilson, second by Matt East; carried, 4–0). On a second student transfer appeal identified in the minutes as "student number 2," the board voted not to uphold the administration's recommendation (motion by Matt East, second by Dana McCaleb; carried, 4–0).

The board then approved a broad consent agenda that included acceptance of bills and minutes, authorization for the superintendent to fill vacancies from Nov. 13, 2025, through Dec. 11, 2025, multiple student field-trip approvals for Lord Botetourt High School, James River High School and Central Academy, approval of the math textbook selection and purchase, disposal of surplus auction items possibly exceeding $500, and payment to vendors for FY26.
