County hears solid‑waste rate pressure and economic development updates including Ignite Appalachia awards

Hannah Lubbers of Adams‑Clermont Solid Waste told the board that overall operating costs have increased and that Rumpke has raised disposal fees. Lubbers said the poundage fee at Adams County Waste and Recycling may increase from the longstanding $0.08 per pound to $0.10 per pound, a change the board was informed may be necessary to account for higher disposal costs.
Economic Development Director Paul Worley updated the board on several projects: construction of the Cherry Fork Sewer Project is ongoing; the Adams County Welcome Center construction meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2025; and the Adams County Training Center’s Ignite Appalachia Business Bootcamp and Pitch Competition raised $5,500 in private donations. The top award went to Hilger Consulting Management, with Queen Acres Lavender Farm and Cluxton Flower Farm also receiving awards.
No formal board action on solid‑waste rates was taken during the meeting; the board was advised that service rate changes require coordination with waste‑disposal contractors and further staff analysis.
