Ryan Wiehmoldt presented the Dakin Lake Cabin project and the board voted to approve the plan, specifications and advertising for bids, setting a bid opening date of April 21.
Wiehmoldt said the project is being reissued because no bids came in during an earlier letting and contractors cited timing conflicts and questions about responsibilities in the bid package. The project is for a six-person prefabricated cabin with two bedrooms, a full bath, kitchen, living space, an accessible ramp, parking and a covered deck. He described it as a public amenity that has been requested by the community.
Funding for the project was described as a mix of the Conservation Reserve Fund, an "SC Will Bond referendum" and the Conservation Trust Fund. The board opened and closed the public hearing with no public comments and approved moving forward with the bid release.
What happens next: staff will release the revised bid package on the schedule approved by the board and return with bid results after the April 21 opening.
