Commissioners weigh vendor help for ADA website upgrades, IT switch costs and Government Center furnishings

Allen County commissioners on March 17 were briefed on several operational and facilities items tied to the new Government Center and county IT infrastructure.
Auditor staff said county websites must meet ADA-compliance requirements by an April 24, 2026 deadline. The Auditor’s Office reported IT is working on updates but even with overtime there is concern that the county will not meet the deadline; NOW Media provided a quote of $8,500 to update all 11 county websites and a $6,050 annual maintenance fee. Commissioners said they would discuss the quote further.
Officials also reviewed an estimated $40,000 cost to replace IT switches at the Government Center; Jason Patchet will consult with WDC Group’s Chris Widener to determine whether the cost falls within the building project’s IT budget or requires additional funds. Commissioners discussed furnishings procurement: offices may use State Term Contracts while other purchases could go to sealed bids or proposals. The Auditor’s Office reported a legacy rolodex filing unit cannot be moved and a replacement redesigned to fit lower ceilings is estimated at $70,000. Commissioners agreed to place a $40,278 change order for carpet and flooring on a future agenda and declined at this time a $2,265.50 bulkhead change for the Veterans Office.
The minutes record no final procurement decisions; commissioners directed follow-up coordination with project staff and department heads.
