Marietta council reviewed the regular-meeting packet page by page and agreed to place several items on the consent agenda, including street-closure requests and light-post banner approvals tied to the World Cup grant. Staff noted a typographical error in the grant paperwork and corrected the start date to July 4, 2025.
Council considered a proposed year-end settlement and a budget amendment that would move $722,000 into this year's budget to be expended over the next three months; staff said MEAG had been contacted and would process the adjustment once the city provides confirmation of the action. "This would allow that budget amendment to take place," a city staff member said.
The council also moved into a short executive session to discuss a legal (human-resources) matter and later returned to open session. A motion to go into executive session for legal matters was made and carried; the work session then resumed with videos and staff updates.
Other procedural notes from the session: several annexation items and consent blocks were confirmed for the regular meeting, and council members asked that one member be shown as abstaining on the record for a specific street-closure item. Staff reminded the council of a final SPLOST public-input meeting scheduled the next evening; public comments will be compiled for committee review in April and for council discussion in May.
What happens next: Consent items and corrected grant language will be taken up at the regular meeting; staff will finalize closing documents for pending property transactions and proceed with the budget amendment steps with MEAG as discussed.
