The Washington County Board of Commissioners voted April 9 to approve a contract with Muskingum County to house prisoners at the Washington County Jail at a rate of $100 per day. The contract is effective May 1, 2026 and runs through April 30, 2027.
The motion was put forward by Vice President Eddie D. Place and seconded by Commissioner Ronald G. Nohe, and passed on a unanimous roll call. The jail’s March report, acknowledged earlier in the meeting, showed a prisoner count of 281 and $3,100 received for housing out‑of‑county inmates during the month.
No additional terms or amendments were discussed during the meeting; county staff will proceed to execute the contract. The sheriff’s office will continue to provide monthly prisoner care reports to the board.
