Commissioners approve jail housing contract, appoint Kelly Kitchen and back Watertown volunteer fire grant

On Nov. 20 the Washington County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative items: a jail housing contract with the Marietta College Police Department to house prisoners at $100 per day, an appointment to the Washington County Behavioral Health Board and a Letter of Support for the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department’s application to the 2026 Small County Volunteer Fire Department Grant.
Commissioner Eddie D. Place moved and Commissioner Charlie L. Schilling seconded approval of the Marietta College contract, which the board recorded as effective through Dec. 31, 2026. The board appointed Kelly Kitchen to the Washington County Behavioral Health Board for a term beginning Dec. 11, 2025 and ending June 30, 2029. Commissioners approved a Letter of Support for the Watertown VFD application, with Mr. Schilling saying he is happy to support volunteer fire departments, particularly in rural areas.
All measures were approved by unanimous roll call.
