Jacob Trivers representing the Atlanta Dodgeball Club told the Brookhaven City Council that the group had used Brookhaven Rec Center gym space for much of last year and consistently drew 30–40 participants, many of them residents. He said the club was later told the space was reserved primarily for residents and was asked to stop; he asked the council to reconsider allowing one evening per week so the club can continue serving residents and offered to coordinate with parks staff on scheduling.
Separately, a Lifeline representative introduced a dog available for adoption and announced a partnership under which Brookhaven residents may adopt from Lifeline’s two DeKalb County locations without an adoption fee; Lifeline materials are available at lifelineanimal.org.
City staff and councilmembers also highlighted upcoming community events including the free egg hunt at Blackburn Park on April 4, the Cherry Blossom 5K and Cherry Blossom Festival, and district‑level wellness walks and youth advisory activities. Parks & Recreation said as of the morning of March 10 there were 416 registered participants for the Cherry Blossom 5K.
