Brookhaven council approves $150,000 contract for Murphy Candler Lake stream repairs

The Brookhaven City Council on March 10 approved a $150,000 contract with Clean Water Consultants Inc. to repair stream‑bank structures at Murphy Candler Lake.
Public Works told the council that two previously installed woody‑material structures installed during a recent restoration had been undermined by flows and require repair as part of a corrective action plan submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The city proposed to piggyback on DeKalb County’s contract and rates with Clean Water Consultants, a firm already used by the county for similar work.
Councilmember Michael Diaz moved to approve the contract and the motion was seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote. The Public Works department said it will provide scheduling details for related paving and access impacts at a later date.
The contract amount and the decision to use county rates were cited as intended to speed repairs and comply with Corps permitting requirements.
