- EMS wage increase tied to longevity (effective March 15). The board moved, seconded and approved the measure by voice vote.
- Hiring Em Rhodes as a full‑time deputy sheriff at $32.66 per hour, effective May 4, 2026. The board approved the appointment.
- Renewal of the annual maintenance agreement for IDEMIA equipment used by the sheriff’s office; staff noted the first year was covered by a grant and subsequent maintenance is the county’s responsibility.
- Release of an RFQ for an integrated security camera/server upgrade with features for first‑responder access and live feeds; the RFQ specifies coordination with the county attorney and sheriff for access procedures.
- Approval of the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) plan, allowing Madison County to access native seed through DOT programs and to apply for related grants.
- A work agreement between Madison County Secondary Roads and Larry Young and the county’s five‑year secondary roads construction program (BRS project approval and authorization for the chair to sign on behalf of the county).
- Hiring of an assistant engineer at an annual salary of $105,000.
- Approval of the weeds report resolution and the partial vacation of Clark Tower Subdivision (see separate article).
Tabled or deferred items:
- A request to allow Madison County Veterans Administration to remain in occupancy of a county property pending sale was tabled after concerns about HIPAA records and the effect on budget assumptions; the board scheduled a special meeting to discuss the matter.
- A community funding request tied to the Fieldhouse was tabled because it had not been placed on the printed agenda for discussion; the board scheduled a budget work session to consider the matter with other fiscal items.
Board procedure and next steps: Several approvals were by voice vote with the chair announcing "motion carries." For items requiring contracts or procurement (the RFQ, IDEMIA agreement, testing engagements) staff will prepare resolution paperwork and coordinate required reviews with the county attorney and sheriff as specified.
