Beardstown council approves appointments, consent agenda; city to close for Memorial Day

The Beardstown City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved routine business items, including the appointment of Dustin Looker as Public Works Director and the designation of City Clerk Katie Vitale as the city’s IMRF authorized agent.
Ald. Mary Davis moved "That the reading of the minutes from the meeting held May 6th, 2025 be dispensed with, that the minutes be approved as published." Ald. Eric Harbin seconded and the measure passed unanimously by voice vote.
The council then approved the Omnibus (consent) Agenda after a motion from Ald. Eric Harbin and a second from Ald. Allie Dawson. The consent approval, including the two personnel appointments, passed unanimously by roll call vote.
On the appointments, Ald. Keith Schramm moved "That the appointment of Dustin Looker to be the Beardstown Public Works Director be approved," seconded by Ald. Mary Davis. The council also approved a motion by Ald. Eric Harbin, seconded by Ald. Allie Dawson, to designate Katherine “Katie” Vitale as the IMRF authorized agent for the city. Both measures were adopted under the Omnibus Vote designation by unanimous roll call.
Mayor Tim Harris told attendees the city would be closed Monday for Memorial Day and said he was "happy with the results of the City wide clean up." With no further business, the council adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
The meeting began at 6:18 p.m. at Beardstown City Hall.
