On second reading April 9, the Village of Tequesta council adopted two ordinances updating building and community-development codes.
Construction and site maintenance: Ordinance O3-26 amends Chapter 14 to modify permitted construction work hours, requires temporary construction-site fencing as a maintenance standard, and establishes a new green-building incentive program. Community Development Director Jay Hutch told council the ordinance passed first reading unanimously and staff had no outstanding questions at second reading.
Planning and zoning board powers: Ordinance 4-26 amends Chapter 22 to add specified responsibilities and special-exception authorities to the planning and zoning board; staff presented the changes as minor code updates that also passed first reading unanimously.
Why it matters: the ordinances are intended to clarify operational expectations for construction activity in the village, improve site maintenance, and provide incentives for green-building measures; the planning-board changes formalize procedures for special exceptions.
Council action: both ordinances were presented for second reading, no public objections were recorded, and both passed on council voice votes.
