Council adopts two alternate city logos after debate on design and usage (6–1)

Community engagement officer S6 said the designs are intended as alternates, not replacements for the city seal, and noted cost and web‑branding benefits. "The city seal... is not to replace the city seal. This would be an alternate logo... it would actually have a little bit of cost savings," S6 said, adding that one version is a round logo similar to the seal and the other is an inline logo better suited for pens and pencils.
When asked whether a professional designer reviewed the work, S6 said the design was done in‑house and that the officer had spoken with staff at other cities that followed the same approach. Board members asked which logo would be used for particular items; S6 said both alternates are intended for different printing contexts and that the logos can be produced in one or two colors to reduce printing cost.
The clerk recorded six yes votes and one no on the adoption of the two alternate logos. The city indicated the seal will remain the official seal while the alternates will be used for merchandise, small prints and digital branding.
