Community engagement officer S6 told the board Mr. Gwynn "was a Tullahoma resident who, just about every veterans event that we hold in History Park ... would be there" and noted he served as a U.S. Army Ranger in World War II and Korea. S6 said the parks and recreation staff built the bridge from scrap materials to provide safer access across a drainage ditch near the railroad right-of-way and that naming the bridge would honor Gwynn's attendance and service.
A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded as stated in the record, and the clerk recorded a unanimous yes vote.
The resolution directs staff to work with parks and recreation on signage and recognition for the bridge.
