Burke and staff said the presented figure was a good‑faith estimate to set a budget ceiling and that the vendor would provide detailed design and final contract terms to return to the board for formal approval.
After discussion—during which Commissioner (speaker 4) sought confirmation that the contract would return for final review—the board voted to approve the motion not to exceed $600,000. Staff said the project would proceed in two steps: secure the budget ceiling, then finalize design and contract for board consideration.
The board recorded the motion as carrying; staff will return with contract documents and specifications prior to construction.
