Washington County commissioners approve grant fund, budget adjustments and sewer engineering invoice

At their Feb. 19 meeting the Washington County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a new fund to track an America 250 grant, several additional appropriations and transfers, travel requests, and payment of a $11,085 Woolpert invoice for preliminary engineering on the SR7 South sewer extension project.
The Washington County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved routine business Feb. 19, adopting a resolution to set up a new fund (6204 AMERICA 250 GRANT) to track revenues and expenses for the America 250 grant and moving several small budget items and transfers.
Commission President Charlie L. Schilling, Vice President Eddie D. Place and Commissioner Ronald G. Nohe voted aye on motions to approve the agenda and the Feb. 12 minutes, a list of bills for payment, and a set of Then & Now certificates. The board approved additional appropriations including $2,000 for the engineer and a combined $23,000 across three sewer accounts, and approved transfers within Family & Children First totaling $412.
The board also approved travel and training reimbursements for multiple staff, including Job & Family Services employees to attend a regional training March 4 and Engineer Roger Wright’s request to attend the National Association of County Engineers conference April 12–16 in Arlington, Texas.
On project spending, commissioners approved Woolpert Invoice No. 1 for $11,085 covering preliminary engineering work on the Regional Wastewater Collection Extension for unsewered areas along State Route 7 South and Blue Knob Road. Roger Wright said a recent stakeholder meeting with Woolpert "was well-attended and provided good solutions," and the grant department will seek federal funding to pay the invoice.
A bid opening was held for the Magistrate Renovation Project; four sealed bids were received and Sixmo Architecture will review them and recommend an award at a later date. Bids ranged from $264,782.28 to $486,000.00.
All formal motions recorded at the meeting passed on unanimous roll-call votes. The board adjourned at 11:02 a.m.
The commissioners will consider award decisions and any further contract approvals in future meetings.
