The Madison Parish Police Jury on March 9 approved a series of routine and administrative actions, including a revised Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, authorization to pay outstanding invoices as funds become available, and a reimbursement to the Registrar of Voters and her chief deputy for health-insurance contributions.
Juror Jerry Hicks (District 1) moved to approve the revised Cooperative Endeavor Agreement that increases the parish’s operational and maintenance payment from $1,075.00 to $1,281.98 per month; Juror Stanley Ogden (District 2) seconded the motion, and it carried with no discussion. The motion also authorized President Jane Sanders (District 5) to sign the agreement on the parish’s behalf.
The meeting opened with a consent agenda covering the Feb. 23 minutes, the February building and garbage/sewer reports and the outstanding invoice report. Juror Stanley Ogden moved to approve the consent agenda; Juror Jerry Hicks seconded and the motion carried. Following that approval, the Secretary/Treasurer asked for permission to pay outstanding invoices based on available funds; Juror Jerry Hicks moved and Juror Dave Wilson (District 3) seconded a motion to pay invoices as funds allow, and the jury approved the request.
At the Registrar of Voters’ request, jurors approved reimbursing the Registrar and her chief deputy $250.42 each for the portion of their health insurance premium paid to the Secretary of State’s office. Juror Johnny Hughes (Vice‑President; District 4) made the motion, Juror Dave Wilson seconded, and a roll call vote recorded five “Yes” votes from the jurors; the motion carried.
During public comments, visitor Mrs. B. Rogers asked the jury to assist with the annual parish cleanup campaign and suggested placing a container in each district. Juror Johnny Hughes moved to provide assistance; Juror Stanley Ogden seconded and the motion carried.
With no further business the jury adjourned. Secretary/Treasurer Margarett Dew and President Jane Sanders signed the minutes at the close of the meeting.
