County staff outline corrections, security and renovation needs for Government Center project

Chris Widener provided an overview of the Child Support Enforcement Agency renovations, saying drawings and specifications have been released to interested contractors and a site walk-through was open through 11:00 a.m. Staff discussed response timelines for submittals and outstanding correction-letter items, and noted that Doug Ditto left the meeting during the update. The board discussed logistics tied to the Cook Tower move-in, including removal timing for lock boxes and safes and coordination with the building owner.
Staff presented cost estimates tied to project changes: a quoted amendment in the amount of $135,807.90 (noted on the record), access-control and data-cabling needs for the Child Support Enforcement Agency, and an estimated cost for panic-button installation of roughly $8,000 per floor. Commissioners approved moving ahead with HVAC filter-box work and requested that All Temp Refrigeration provide an updated plumbing quote for men’s restroom amendments.
Elected officials were asked to submit listings of furnishings that will transfer to the new Government Center offices and to identify additional furnishing needs. The county noted that final cost and scheduling decisions will depend on contractor responses to the posted drawings and the building owner’s timelines for completing agreed actions.
