DJFS shifts ambulette coordination to Medicaid MCOs; commissioners approve contracts and hires

Athens County DJFS told commissioners that ambulette coordination will shift to Medicaid MCOs, and the board approved contract amendments with Green Cab, a WEX fuel-card agreement, Enterprise vehicle leases, vehicle-detailing bid solicitation, and personnel actions including a new child-support supervisor.
Representatives from DJFS informed the Board that coordination of ambulette (nonemergency medical transportation) services will transition away from local county coordination to Medicaid managed‑care organizations because of complex Medicaid regulations and operational requirements; DJFS will assist current customers and vendors during the transition. DJFS estimated about 80 customers use ambulette services annually.
The commissioners approved an amendment to a DJFS contract with 59 Green LTD (dba Green Cab) increasing the contract value to $377,556.38 for the period July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. They also approved a DJFS agreement with WEX (fuel card) and authorized Commissioner Lenny Eliason to sign the agreement, and approved two Enterprise vehicle leases to be used for Medicaid transportation. Commissioners also approved issuing a request for bids for vehicle-detailing services for county vehicles.
On personnel, the board approved hiring Parrie Warren as Child Support Supervisor at $32.45/hr effective April 20, 2026, and approved the return from paid administrative leave of Administrative Hearing Officer Natasha Jack effective April 22, 2026. All motions were approved by roll call (Eliason, Chmiel and Adkins voting yea).
