Mayor Kelly Davis read and presented a proclamation designating February 2026 as Black History Month at the Feb. 9 Auburn City Council meeting, urging residents to learn about Black history, honor leaders and participate in activities that promote inclusion.
The mayor invited two children to the front to receive copies and offered a photo opportunity. The proclamation noted Black Americans' contributions across education, government, business, science, the arts and military service and called for reflection on ongoing work to address racial disparities.
