At a Village of Mount Orab meeting, a council member moved to create a committee to study the local impacts of data centers and to include two resident members alongside three council members.
"I'm gonna make a motion to create the committee to explore data centers and impact on the village for environmental health and safety reasons, and utilities," the council member said, proposing that two resident positions be posted immediately so applicants could be selected at the next meeting.
The same council member also moved that the village post all open board seats, council seats and other advisory openings so the public can apply before appointments are made. He said postings should be placed after the meeting and selections made at the next council meeting.
Other council members voiced support and a second was recorded for the posting motion; the transcript does not include a recorded final vote on either motion. Council members asked staff to post notices and to prepare for selections at the next council meeting.
