The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen on May 5 declared two properties a menace to public health and safety and directed city staff or contract labor to clean the properties forthwith if not addressed by owners.
Dr. Song presented staff findings: three initially advertised properties had been cleaned by the time of the meeting, but two properties — one owned by Lodging Quality LLC/Crompler and the Bobby C. Davies property at 6161 Humphrey Drive — still "remain tall" and had not been mowed. "That property, the grass still remains tall," Dr. Song said when describing the outstanding parcels.
Seeing no owner representatives present, Mister Dickerson moved to declare the two properties a menace and order cleanup. The motion was seconded and carried. Mayor Adhman noted that code enforcement typically issues courtesy notices (515 in April) and only a small number of cases proceed to court; the ordered cleanup can be performed by city contract with the cost attached as a lien to the property if owners do not comply.
The board's action authorizes staff to proceed with abatement procedures consistent with the staff report.
