Rancho Cordova highlights volunteer hub, beautification programs and tree canopy gains

The Rancho Cordova Community Engagement Division presented its 2025 annual update, flagging growth in volunteerism, neighborhood microgrants, beautification programs and urban forest work.
Division manager Laurie Ann Carl described a neighborhood‑led engagement model and said the city’s residential microgrant program increased by 27% in 2024 and reached approximately 2,400 residents. She summarized Good Neighbor Days and other outreach events and introduced staff who manage specific programs.
Matt Bueland reviewed beautification and home revitalization work, including partnerships with Rebuilding Together Sacramento, Habitat for Humanity and CR Service Projects that focus on health‑and‑safety repairs and curb appeal. Bueland said the city’s urban forest effort has planted 4,508 trees since late 2015 and removed 308 stumps through 2025. He described cash‑for‑clunkers and chain‑link fence removal incentives and new beautification workshops launched in 2025.
Volunteer Central site manager Mateo Donato said the platform now has more than 1,400 registered volunteers since its November 2022 launch. Council members praised the programs, suggested additional outreach and asked staff to continue making metrics and before/after visuals available for public review.
There was no substantive council action; staff will continue with planned 2026 workshops, three Good Neighbor Days and the third annual spring service day.
