Residents urge council to fix ‘dangerous’ unfinished wall and praise proposed fire truck

Two public commenters addressed the council during the public‑comment period.

Michelle Niguez, a 24‑year Eastvale resident and longtime elementary school teacher, told the council she relied on city inspections and an official signature to proceed with a yard wall and patio. She said work stopped after four months of approvals and left a "dangerous open trench and an unfinished wall," and estimated demolition and reconstruction at roughly $61,000.

"I relied on that official signature to move forward," Niguez said, asking the council to "direct the city manager to formalize and record a solution immediately, one that resolves the entire project, including the wall, the height, the patio, and the gate." She said she has receipts, city logs and photos available for the record.

Dawa Ross, an Eastvale resident who referenced a recent fire‑department presentation, said while the quint aerial apparatus was expensive she believes it is needed to reach upper‑story residents in new multi‑story neighborhoods. "It brought it home to me how we do need this truck," Ross said, urging the council to support public‑safety decisions that prioritize response times in growing parts of the city.

City staff did not take immediate formal action during the meeting on the specific property complaint; the council referred broader legal and procedural questions about approvals and county agreements to staff for follow up.

The consent calendar (with one item pulled) was approved by motion later in the meeting.
