Residents report new programs and upcoming events; public commenters praise local soccer leagues

A Spanish-language commenter who identified as a coach and longtime participant (speaker 6) praised local leagues for improving the community’s reputation, described historical fee changes and access challenges, and urged consistent enforcement of rules so improvements continue. The coach said many players are local and that appropriate discipline for misconduct has helped reduce problems.
Commissioners used the comment period to thank staff and to invite other commissioners to upcoming city events, including a Mariachi Festival on March 21 at Veterans Memorial Park. Public Works Director (speaker 4) also highlighted the high school girls soccer team’s recent regional finish and reminded attendees of upcoming community events including an extravaganza and a Cesar Chavez Day event on March 28 at Veterans Park.
