Pembroke Pines agrees to host DBPR mobile office hours for condo and HOA questions

Staff described the DBPR outreach as a venue for residents to lodge complaints, receive guidance on common condo and HOA problems, and obtain educational sessions. The DBPR reportedly offered to run sessions in English and Spanish and asked the city to provide space and coordination with Pines PD and code enforcement.
Commissioners welcomed the idea and asked administration to publish resources on the city website and consider a dedicated email address for condo/HOA inquiries. Several commissioners noted that DBPR has limited enforcement authority over HOAs (most HOA disputes are civil) and said the city should help residents understand what DBPR can and cannot do.
Why it matters: Condo and HOA governance issues were cited repeatedly as a frequent source of resident complaints. Local access to state ombudsman services and education could reduce confusion and direct callers to the right forum.
What’s next: Staff and counsel said they would coordinate with DBPR to host the mobile office hours, provide space in city facilities, assist with scheduling and outreach, and report back to the commission.
