Bremer County supervisors closed public hearings and approved first readings on two separate rezoning requests, and they adopted a minor plat for a small land division.
For ordinance 2602, staff told the board that property owners Brady and Kenzie have a buyer for land off 235th who wants to build a single-family home; the request would rezone the lot from A1 to A2 to permit the residence. "The buyer wants to build 1 single family home," Lindsey said during the hearing. The board approved the first reading and set the second reading for March 31 at 10:15 a.m.
A separate request, ordinance 2604, asked to rezone a parcel previously zoned commercial — originally for a planned wedding and event venue that did not proceed — back to A2 and to split off the south portion to meet the 2-acre minimum for a single-family lot. Lindsey said the change "cleans up the spot zoning" and would allow residential development while keeping the rest of the acreage in production. The board closed public comment and approved the first reading, with the second reading also scheduled for March 31 at 10:15 a.m.
The board also adopted a minor plat resolution allowing Tanner Schwab to split off just under 19 acres for sale to Adam Hinderacker for recreational use, including an easement for access. Staff confirmed departmental circulation raised no objections.
All land-use actions reported no public speakers opposing the requests during the hearings and moved forward to the standard second-reading process where required.
