The Fairfield Planning Commission voted on March 19 to table the Lovendahl site plan after commissioners raised a concern about a ten-foot setback that includes a ditch between the fence and the proposed building area.
Chairman Taylor said he had reviewed the site plan and identified the ditch within the setback and questioned whether the irrigation company's approval was required. Town Attorney Brad Christopherson advised that the irrigation company's approval should be obtained prior to site-plan approval, noting that building over a ditch without proper access could later require removal of structures.
Chairman Taylor moved to table the Lovendahl site plan; Commissioner Jamie Mascaro seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The commission directed staff to seek irrigation-company confirmation and to return the application for further consideration once that documentation is provided.
Next procedural steps: staff will follow up with the applicant and the irrigation company and report to the commission at the next appropriate meeting.
