Representatives of the California Capitol Airshow updated the Rancho Cordova City Council on the 2025 event and previewed plans for 2026.
Board member Tim Murphy and CEO Darcy Brewer led the presentation, joined by Terrence McNamara, Steven Clark and Angela Terry. The presenters said the 2025 airshow attracted about 146,872 spectators, sold out premium and general-admission venues for the first time, generated an estimated $10.7 million in direct economic benefits to the region (including roughly $6.2 million in direct spending in the Rancho Cordova area), and produced more than 1,700 hotel nights attributable to the show.
Speakers emphasized year-round educational and community programs tied to the airshow: more than $600,000 in STEM scholarships to date, programs that engaged some 3,500 students, and free tickets distributed to Title I schools, veterans’ groups and families of active-duty military personnel. Organizers announced a return of the night show for October 2026 and said the U.S. Thunderbirds and other jet teams will perform as part of the 20th‑anniversary celebration.
Council members and staff thanked the airshow organizers for community outreach and volunteer engagement; staff noted the city’s continued support for logistics and partnership on outreach and STEM programming.
