Plummer said local data show roughly 100 adults 65+ experiencing homelessness in the county’s HMIS and noted the county’s suicide rate is more than twice the state average, making seniors a priority population. Commissioners at the meeting said the advisory body has vacancies and limited staffing but agreed the topics are appropriate and said they would collaborate with the county Department of Health and local suicide prevention partners to prepare the reports.
The board’s action was a directive to an advisory commission (no appropriation attached) and will result in a public presentation to the board later in the year.
