Capital-outlay update: Cherokee High replacement on schedule and within budget; multiple schools nearing completion

Mr. Morris presented the monthly capital outlay report, beginning with the Cherokee High School replacement project. He said punch-list items in the CTAE building and cafeteria continue while the main gym is progressing, including scoreboard installation, and that “that project currently is on schedule and within budget.” The district has ordered a traffic study for Riverstone Parkway and Bluffs Parkway to assess potential traffic impacts when the new Cherokee High opens and will coordinate with municipalities and transportation departments on any needed adjustments.
Creekview High is nearing inspections on the 1300 hall and auxiliary gym, with landscaping and contractor demobilization beginning. River Ridge’s auxiliary project is completing exterior CMU and scheduling brick and roof work; Sequoia’s auxiliary gym foundation and utility relocations are advancing to allow acceleration of site work. At Teasley Middle School, a Georgia Power utility relocation issue has been resolved, allowing curb-and-gutter work to continue. Woodstock High School has final inspections scheduled with landscaping and hardscaping underway.
The board acknowledged the steady pace of projects and thanked Mr. Morris for the report. No formal votes or budget approvals were taken in this work session report.
