District staff presented a package of consent items the board agreed to place on next week's agenda for approval.
Finance presented Budget Amendment No. 7, which Phil Penn said reflects recent budgetary changes across Funds 1, 2, 3 and 8 and results in a net increase of $1,259,023 across those funding sources. Penn said the amendment brings the total budget to about $545.26 million.
Dr. Sandy Ward presented multiple policy updates for first read and second read, including parental involvement changes, an electronic-device policy aligned with new state law restricting sharing of recordings without consent, and several technical and legal-reference updates. She also introduced a Mary Frances Wall preschool calendar that sets pre-K days (172 days) and staggered start dates for tuition and EC students; the board agreed to move the calendar to consent for next week.
Facilities and procurement presented summer capital bids: a reroof/ reroof-alternate at Carl A. Furr Elementary, a roof replacement at Pitts School Road Elementary (contract amount presented as $1,046,000), an HVAC replacement at the Ed Center (presented at $708,141), and multi-region mowing contracts that add annual mulch and additional pruning. Chuck Taylor described bid variability and recommended awardees; board members agreed to add the projects to consent.
Board members indicated consent placement for multiple items; no final votes were taken at the work session. The consent agenda will be considered at the next regular meeting.
