The applicant (S5) said, “It’s intended to be a collision and body shop for Tesla,” and clarified the facility is not intended for new-vehicle sales and that all repair operations would be indoors.
Council members asked how visible the site would be from the street and pressed for screening of damaged vehicles. The applicant said damaged vehicles could be shielded behind fencing or landscaping; Scott noted that building elevations and landscaping will be reviewed by the city’s design review board during permitting.
The applicant estimated the operation would employ "probably an excess of 50, 60 people," and the council discussed site elevation and visual buffering above Lanier Parkway. Council member S4 moved approval; the motion was seconded and carried 5-0.
Next steps: the developer must submit building elevations and landscaping plans to the design review board for final design review before permits are issued.
