Allen County commissioners approve change orders, push administration building completion to Aug. 14

The Allen County Board of Commissioners on April 14 approved a package of change orders that revised the schedule for the county’s new administration building, moving the substantial completion date to Aug. 14, 2026.

County staff and representatives of the prime contractors — Charles Construction, Koester Electric, All Temp Refrigeration and Northwestern Ohio Security Systems — reviewed updated timelines and contingency steps. Charles Construction reported the elevator is slated for delivery on June 15, 2026, with an approximate 20‑day installation window; the company said it is working to get the delivery date in writing.

Commissioners presented and voted to approve a series of resolutions authorizing the change orders. Commissioner Brian Winegardner moved to approve Resolutions Nos. 275‑26 through 279‑26; Commissioner Beth Seibert seconded, and the roll call vote was unanimous.

The approved change orders cover general construction and site work, plumbing, mechanical systems, electrical work, and fire alarm/security/access-control systems. County staff said all contractors have reviewed and agreed to the updated schedule.

Project managers emphasized staff will continue to seek written confirmation of key delivery dates and monitor schedule impacts. The shift in the substantial completion date will affect the project timeline; county officials did not state any additional funding requests in the session.
