After the presentation and questions, the board approved its consent agenda by unanimous voice vote and asked staff to place a middle-school scheduling discussion on a future agenda.
School leaders said the district has aligned instruction around five foundational components — phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension — and is using a bundled materials set from HMH while providing sustained professional development for teachers.
