South Colonie board approves minutes, committee reports and personnel appointments; motions carried unanimously

The South Colonie Central School District board approved a series of routine items at its May 5, 2026 meeting, including minutes from the April 29 meeting, committee reports and recommendations, and personnel appointments for both instructional and support staff.

A motion to approve the April 29 minutes was made by Thomas Blakely and seconded by Rose Giglielo and carried by a 6 to 0 tally. The board then approved committee reports and recommendations (letters a''d) on a motion by Rose Giglielo, seconded by Robert Miesick; that motion carried 6 to 0.

During discussion of instruction personnel changes, a district staff member noted the district is replacing retirees and welcoming a mix of veteran and new teachers. The board approved the instructional personnel changes dated May 5, 2026 (mover: Thomas Blakely; second: Robert Miesick) by a 6 to 0 vote.

Support personnel changes, including appointments and resignations dated May 5, 2026, were presented and approved (mover: Rose Giglielo; second: Thomas Blakely) with a 6 to 0 tally. An administrator noted one employee is moving into another role within the district and that one previously listed item (a bus driver) was clarified as a permanent break-in driver rather than a substitute.

The board set future meetings and celebrations, including a Transportation & Facilities Committee meeting and an end-of-year student recognition event on May 26 with retiree recognition starting at 4:00 p.m. The chair reminded the public of the May 19 budget vote at both middle schools. The meeting adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
